Chlorin e6 combined with albumin nanoparticles as a potential composite photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy of tumors.
AIM To synthesize and to study for photodynamic activity a composite photosensitizer consisting of chlorin e6 and human serum albumin nanoparticles (HSA NPs). MATERIALS AND METHODS Starting from sorption-purified HSA, the albumin nanoparticles with a different degree of lysine residues cross-linking (10; 20; 40, and 100%) were obtained by the coacervation method. The HSA NPs were used for syn...
متن کاملAntitumor effect of photodynamic therapy with a novel targeted photosensitizer on cervical carcinoma.
The antitumor effect of photodynamic therapy (PDT) mediated by a novel photosensitizer I (Ps I; {γ-[N-poly(ethyleneglycol)]folic acid}-5,10,15-tris(3-hydroxyphenyl)-20-(4-carboxyphenyl)chlorin), in which chlorin was used as a photoactive unit, folic acid as a tumor‑targeting warhead, and polyethylene glycol as a linker, on cervical carcinoma was studied in vitro and in vivo. Ps I exhibited a co...
متن کاملThe hyaluronan synthesis inhibitor 4-methylumbelliferone exhibits antitumor effects against mesenchymal-like canine mammary tumor cells
Hyaluronan (HA), a principal constituent of the extracellular matrix (ECM), mediates growth and metastasis of tumor cells. The role of HA in the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is well known, and increased ECM remodeling is observed in mesenchymal-like cells. The HA synthesis inhibitor 4-methylumbelliferone (4-MU) is anti-tumorigenic for various malignant tumors. However, the antitumor ...
متن کاملFolic acid conjugated ferritins as photosensitizer carriers for photodynamic therapy.
We coupled folic acid as a tumour targeting ligand to the surface of ferritins and loaded them with ZnF16Pc. The resulting nanoconjugates can efficiently hone in on 4T1 tumours in vivo, and, with photoirradiation, leading to suppressed tumour growth and tumour metastasis.
